Cath joined the Aspire team in October 2024 as the speech & language therapist and autism lead. She grew up in Devon, has lived in Scotland and Northern Ireland but has settled on the eastern edge of Dartmoor. She loves being outdoors: gardening; walking with friends (and preferably, at least one dog); and engaging with nature. She co-ordinates the local bat group and leads people on ‘bat safaris’ in the summer months. She has travelled widely and enjoys exploring new places and meeting people around the world

Cath has been a speech & language therapist for over 30 years, mostly working within NHS services into learning disability teams, special schools, mental health community services and hospitals, as well as working as an independent trainer. Most recently she has been working in autism services. She is particularly interested in how trauma and communication differences can affect a person’s sense of self and safety and their ability to function, especially where autism shapes the person’s response to their experiences.
